About Jeannette Fossas
"I truly believe I have creative genes in my DNA"
Long before Jeannette Fossas received a commission to design a necklace for Queen Sofía of Spain, and her work was exhibited, collected, published and praised worldwide, she stood out for her creativity and talent.
Her father's side of the family had the sensibility and creativity of artists. Her great grandfather and his son were distinguished poets, while her maternal grandfather was an art and antique collector from whom she acquired a deep knowledge and understanding of art.

Therefore, she grew up in an ambiance that respected and promoted her artistic savoir-faire.
These experiences, as well as drawing and painting lessons at an early age and architectural studies later on, shaped the way she perceived the world, provoking her to discover the details in lights, forms, functions and movements of her surroundings.
Also, the Caribbean environment where she grew up –near the warm beaches of the island of Puerto Rico and the constant visits to her family’s small country house– influenced her path. As a child, she spent her days collecting seashells and exploring the exuberant and ever-changing tropical vegetation ––that same nature which she has duplicated in the wearable art pieces.

- Acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Syracuse University.
- Completed a Master’s Degree in Light Metals from Rhode Island School of Design.
- Was an invited artist in the Zeichenakademie in Hanau, Germany.
- Designed a necklace commissioned for Queen Sofía of Spain.

- Jewellers of America's 1999 Jewel Award in the Men's Jewellery Design category for a set of wedding and engagement rings for men.
- Participated on the most important trade shows around the world: Basel Watch and Jewelry fair in Switzerland, JCK in New York, JA in Las Vegas and Luxury by JCK also in Las Vegas.
- Nancy O'Dell from Access Hollywood wore one of her pieces for the Oscars
